For the first time in quite a while I just haven’t really felt like posting. I actually haven’t felt like writing at all, which is something I really do enjoy for the most part. I’m not suspending the blog or anything, but things are going as well as can be expected with a 6 month old puppy and work hasn’t driven me to the top of a bell tower and I’ve been avoiding large groups of people as much as possible… Maybe it’s just that I’ve been avoiding my usual muse. Whatever the reason, fewer things to bitch about basically = fewer interesting posts. It’s times like this I thank God I don’t actually have to write on command. I’d be out of articles in a month and a half.

We now pause for these messages…
Even a dedicated blogger needs a break now and then, so I’m off to Vegas for a long weekend. Talk to y’all from Sin City. Maybe.
Discovery…
So, I’ve discovered that without the pain in the ass that was my old job, I really have very little to complain about. Sure, that’s good for me, but it’s completely fouling up my ability to post a blog on a semi-regular basis. I guess some people write about their day to day interactions with people out in the world, but we all know how much I hate being out in the world and being forced to interact with the populace, so that’s not exactly fertile ground for me. You might ask what I’ve been up to now that I don’t spend hours seething about the blundering incompetence at work. I’ve rediscovered actually reading books, which is something I still don’t get to do enough of. I’ve managed to spend a little more quality time killing zombies, so that’s good. Even Winston benefits as I have more time to roll around on the floor with him. Of course all of that makes for perfectly bland blogging, so I’ve spared you the details.
At the instigation of one of my oldest and dearest friends, I’ve even taken my first tentative steps into the world of Facebook. Thanks a lot, Sandi… Another social networking addiction is just what I need. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be as labor intensive as MySpace, so hopefully it won’t be too distracting. It also currently has the benefit of not being blocked by our network administrators… yet. So, if you’re on Facebook, look me up.
Casting call…
I’ve had the feeling for a while that I’m getting pretty repetitive on this thing… That the font of new blog ideas has been running towards empty. Being a creature of habit, new and interesting stories can get a little tough to find. I’ve got a couple of ideas in the works… like my 2008 presidential endorsement, but those aren’t quite ready for print just yet. Like I said, I just feel like I’m running out of Class A material. So, I’m going to throw open the door and take some requests… If you’ve got something you’d like to see a rant about or even just something I can assert a holier-than-thou position on, let me know and I’ll try to accommodate. Yeah, that ought to be interesting…
Update in 30 words or less…
It’s been a busy week. Not bad, just busy. Mundane work stuff, really, so I will spare you all the details. On another note, The Soprano’s + HD = Love.
A little neglected…
I’m feeling a bit like I have been neglecting my bloggly duties lately. The simple truth is there’s really very little going on that is worth of noting, let alone actually recounting after the fact. I’m thoroughly back into the groove of work, class, and home maintenance and while usually all three are filled with potential fodder, it’s been a very, very quiet week. I should probably be enjoying it, but I can’t quite shake the feeling that there is another shoe up there waiting to drop.
Due outs…
It seems like there has been a good deal of traffic around here while I was away. And I notice a lot of comments, messages, and such that I need to get back to. Rest assured that I’m not ignoring anyone and I’ll get back to you as soon as I possibly can. It’s amazing how much backlog there is after ignoring class, email, and my beloved blog for six days. I’m wading through class now and seem to be about caught up. As for email and blogging, I’m hoping to get back in the swing of things over the weekend. It’s taking a bit longer than I anticipated to get back up to full speed and frankly, I’m still feeling a bit too relaxed to bitch about much.
The Return of the King…
I’m pleased to announce that my self-imposed electronic exile is over. Pictures and will follow later this week. Couldn’t have asked for a better quickie vacation, though the back-to-back 12-hour drives are a bit of a ball-buster.
Closed for Maintenance…
This blog will be temporarily closed to allow for the maintenance of its writer for the next few days. I’m planning on spending some quality time, hopefully offline, somewhere warm and sunny for the next few days. Good company, good location, and a low key retreat from the world are just what I’m looking for at the moment. Unless I feel a great urge to share, I should be this time next week before I’m back in full operation.
See you then.
Live, from the 5th Circle of Hell; or From Atlanta with Love
There are a few posts from this week’s trip and you’ll be reading them in whichever order I feel like fleshing out my notes. There is also one that will be written, but not posted without the consent of the other parties involved. Barring that consent, it will remain a permanent part of my personal archive and never see the light of day. Either way, it’s there as a part of the record. You know, for 300 years from now when someone finds one of my old flash drives buried in the rubble of civilization and has to reconstruct what life was like in the 21st century based on only a handfull of snarky blog posts.
I digress, however, from the work at hand. I hate the airport at Atlanta. It’s over crowded both in terms of flight operations and the sheer number of our oblivious fellow airport patrons (did you really think I was going to use the phrase “fellow traveler?”). All the early flights are sold out, so here I sit until 7:30, when, I hope, the skies over the ALT are not full of thunderheads. It’s summer in Atlanta so I’m not holding my breath. This place is some kind of hellish business traveler’s purgatory where time takes on no actual significance.
It’s only saving grace is that it has indoor smoking if you know where to look; thus proving that even hell has its perks. Thank God I’m easy to please.
